Jussieu Campus
Empreinte has produced the signage for the "Maison de la Recherche", which will be inaugurated on the Cergy university campus.
The aim of the project is to create a multifunctional centre dedicated to the humanities and modelling sciences.
The signage designed for this facility is based on a combination of two materials: anodised aluminium and Valchromat.
Do you know what Valchromat is? Valchromat is a panel of wood fibres dyed in the mass to give a uniform colour. Each fibre is impregnated with organic dyes and bonded with a special resin, making it more resistant to humidity and more versatile than traditional wood panels.
The benefits of Valchromat :
- Available in a wide variety of bright and natural shades, it allows for contemporary and elegant finishes.
- Easy to cut, mill, drill and screw, Valchromat can be adapted to suit even the boldest creative ideas.
- Made from PEFC and FSC-certified wood, it's an excellent solution for creative, aesthetic and high-performance projects.
In this project, Valchromat was chosen as a more environmentally-friendly alternative to materials more commonly used as spacers, such as Forex. It can also be used as a signage medium. It can be cut, machined and, above all, printed perfectly.
The advantage over a raw material like aluminium is that, because it is dyed in the mass, it does not need to be painted before being printed. This saves time and energy in the production process, which is good for the environment and good for the cost of your project.
