Le Crotoy
The story began in 2012 when Empreinte manufactured and installed several interpretation tables in the Le Crotoy area as part of the Belvederes project run by the Somme Departmental Council. These tables, which showcase the fabulous natural and cultural heritage of the Bay of the Somme, are made from enamelled lava.
Le Crotoy Town Council and Empreinte wanted to continue the work they had begun on this project. The result is this heritage trail. It presents the town's heritage, both architectural and historical, and highlights places of tourist interest.
A little over ten years later, seeing how these lava tables have stood the test of time despite the marine environment, Le Crotoy Town Council called on Empreinte to produce its heritage signage.
The local authority has opted for the Artmonie range. It is suitable for both nature and heritage trail projects.
Artmonie furniture has clean lines. It is made from a single piece of sheet steel, edged at the back to ensure the structure's solidity. The client opted for a customised cut-out for the base, which features the town's logo.
The proximity of the sea dictated the choice of materials. The panels are made from enamelled lava, which is highly resistant to the elements and, above all, to UV rays: the visual effect will remain the same for decades. Corten steel was chosen for the furniture. It is designed to develop a rust-coloured patina that creates a protective layer, making it extremely resistant. It is therefore particularly suited to demanding weather conditions, such as the salty air of the coast.
The combination of enamelled lava and Corten steel makes a highly popular pair for outdoor signage in demanding environments.
