The Verse Tower
Situated in the heart of the Sancerre vineyards, the Verse tower in Neuvy-Deux-Clochers is a rare vestige of 12th-century architecture. Empreinte designed the interior and exterior signage for the opening to the public.
The exterior signage includes wall signs and multi-faceted interpretation furniture. The challenge? To create educational furniture that was robust enough for outdoor use and required limited maintenance.
Each station is packed with details: Corten steel plates superimposed to create a relief effect, 3D prints of elements installed on the stations, 2D models cut out using a water jet, pivoting mechanisms, etc.
Corten steel proved to be the ideal choice for this signage. It requires no maintenance, does not degrade over time and, if scratched, rust quickly covers the impact. The Corian nameplates add colour and contrast to the overall effect.
The stations were installed without using concrete, thanks to the Ferradix system. A sustainable and environmentally-friendly solution, it is ideally suited to listed sites or potentially archaeological subsoil, as it avoids the need to dig over vast areas.
For the interior signage in the reception area, we produced wooden cards that were CNC-cut, engraved and hand-painted in our finishing workshops.
